From Lucky Me to Why Me?

Although parenting has its rewards, there are times when it can become almost unbearable.  It can almost feel like waves crashing into you.   I’ve heard people say, “They don’t make kids like they used to!”  Well, they sure don’t.  I know in my day, I probably wasn’t the greatest kid in the world.  As a matter of fact, my parents would tell you that this was an understatement.  Regardless, with the things youth face today, I do believe my parents had it much easier than I.

By writing this blog, my hope is to be a help to someone and maybe even find help in someone else.  I believe that although parents may endure different types of situations, most of the us have the same dream for our children; that they are happy, healthy, respectful and successful.  Many, many times the plans we have for our children are so different from the plans they have for themselves.  Robert Burns said it best, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.  Believe it or not, that’s okay, as long as they are happy, healthy, respectful, and successful in the paths they choose.  So maybe through this blog, we can listen, learn, and make those dreams a reality.
